Sasha Burshteyn is a poet.


She is a 2022 winner of the 92Y Discovery Contest. Her poetry appears in The Yale Reviewthe Paris Review Daily, Four Way ReviewCopper Nickel, Bat City ReviewPigeon Pages, and elsewhere. She received her MFA from New York University, where she was a Goldwater Fellow and Translations Editor at the Washington Square Review. She is currently at work on her first manuscript.

Before that, she lived and worked in eastern Europe, where she developed documentary poems about the Seven Natural Wonders of Ukraine with support from National Geographic. 

Before that, she was a Thomas J. Watson Fellow. She spent her fellowship year talking with people about social upheaval in Ireland, South Africa, India, Georgia, and Guatemala.

Before that, she received a B.A. from Amherst College.

Sasha was born in Russia and raised in Brooklyn and Eastern Ukraine.
